May 16 was a day of relentless attacks by Russian forces on the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to local authorities, Russian forces attacked several districts of the region more than 70 times, using drones, artillery, and missiles to strike residential areas and critical infrastructure.

This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, who noted that the communities of the Nikopol region were hit hardest, with Nikopol, Marganetsk, Pokrovsk, Chervonohryhorivsk, and Myrivsk communities coming under fire, as well as the Kryvyi Rih district, where the enemy struck Kryvyi Rih itself and the Zelenodolsk community. “The enemy attacked two districts of the region more than 70 times with drones, artillery, and missiles,” the head of the Regional Military Administration noted, emphasizing the scale and intensity of the shelling throughout the day.

The attacks damaged dozens of facilities—ranging from infrastructure and administrative buildings to a kindergarten, a store, a gas station, high-rise and private homes, as well as outbuildings and vehicles—effectively turning certain areas into zones of total destruction.

According to official data, a 38-year-old man was killed, nine others were injured—two of whom were hospitalized in moderate condition, while the rest are receiving outpatient treatment. Among the victims are also two children—a 10-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.

Despite the difficult situation, rescue workers and utility services continue to operate at the sites of the strikes, clearing the debris and helping residents restore essential services in the affected communities.
