Russian Deputy Defense Minister Oleksiy Kryvoruchko will stand trial for waging an aggressive war against Ukraine

As part of the “flagship case” concerning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, an indictment against Russian Deputy Defense Minister Oleksiy Kryvoruchko has been filed with the court. In total, 742 individuals have been notified of suspicion in this case, indictments have been filed against 130 people, and six have already been convicted.

Prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General have completed the pretrial investigation and filed an indictment against Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Oleksiy Kryvoruchko.

He is charged with waging an aggressive war under Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, Alexei Kryvoruchko has held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation since 2018.

Investigators believe he was responsible for Russia’s military-technical policy, the organization of state defense procurement, and the supply of weapons and military equipment to the Russian army.

According to the criminal case file, Kryvoruchko signed government contracts for the production and supply of “Kinzhal” hypersonic missiles, “Iskander-M” missile systems, guided aerial bombs, and “Geran” and “Gerbera” drones.

He also, according to the investigation, oversaw the fulfillment of defense contracts and reported to the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the ramp-up of weapons production and supply.

In addition, according to the investigation, Oleksiy Kryvoruchko initiated the creation of the “Rubicon” Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies.

Subsequently, as the prosecutor’s office notes, units from this center directly participated in combat operations against Ukraine.

The investigation asserts that the evidence gathered indicates that Russian troops used weapons—whose production and supply were organized and controlled by Kryvoruchko—during missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory.

This includes, in particular, strikes on civilian and critical infrastructure. According to the investigation, these attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of civilians, as well as the destruction of residential buildings and critical infrastructure facilities.

As part of the “main case” concerning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, 742 individuals have been notified of the charges against them.

Of these, 293 individuals have been charged with the crime of aggression under Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—either separately or in conjunction with Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Indictments against 130 individuals have already been filed with the court, and six defendants in the case have already been convicted.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
