Zelenskyy announced a possible meeting in the U.S. to end the war
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the U.S. has several plans for ending the war waged by Russia—the aggressor state—against Ukraine. According to him, a meeting with U.S. officials may take place in the coming days or within the week, likely in the United States.
The day before, Zelenskyy spoke with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. Kirill Budanov, Andriy Kyslytsya, and Rustem Umerov also participated in the conversation.
The parties discussed the possibilities for a future meeting. “There are several plans from the U.S. regarding ending the war. They will share these ideas with us,” Zelenskyy said at a press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.
According to the president, the U.S. side wants to present its ideas to both Ukraine and Russia. An exact date for the meeting has not yet been set: there are several options that need to be coordinated with the participants’ schedules.
Zelenskyy also believes that the next trilateral meeting between representatives of Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia should take place before fall. He noted that if it were up to Ukraine alone, such a meeting would have been held back in July.
