Zelenskyy announced a response to Russian strikes
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine must respond to Russian strikes in a fair and forceful manner. According to him, he has agreed on specific measures to respond to the latest massive attacks by the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainian leader announced this on May 15 in his Telegram channel.
“Last night, the enemy already saw strikes, particularly on their oil facilities and military sites. We are continuing our operations,” he said.
According to the president, Russia wants to draw Belarus much deeper into the war and launch additional aggressive operations from Belarusian territory—either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction or against one of the NATO countries bordering Belarus.
The head of state announced that the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction will be reinforced. He instructed the Defense and Security Forces to prepare a response plan, which will be reviewed at the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters.
“We also have Russian documents proposing targets for strikes on Kyiv, strikes on Kyiv and our other cities—on political and military facilities where the army leadership or the government might be located, and here—on Bankova Street. They’ve been hatching this plan for a long time—now, after Iran, they’ve become active again—looking for where we are, where we go. The same goes for other people in the Ukrainian leadership, in intelligence, and in our special services. “Some people there in Moscow still haven’t understood that Ukrainians will never surrender their independence, and in any case—with or without Bankova Street—we will not surrender our land, our sovereignty, or our state,” he stated.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence had obtained documents indicating that Russia is preparing new missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, a Russian fighter jet accidentally dropped a high-explosive bomb on railroad tracks during a combat sortie, causing an electric train to derail.
