Zelenskyy appealed to Western partners regarding the threat of a strike on Ukraine by Oreshnik
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to the U.S. and the EU regarding reports that Russia is preparing to launch a strike against our country using a medium-range (intermediate-range) surface-to-surface ballistic missile known as the “Oreshnik.”
The Ukrainian leader announced this on social media.
“We draw the attention of our partners in both the United States and Europe to the fact that the use of such weapons and the prolongation of such a war sets a global precedent for other potential aggressors as well. If Russia is allowed to destroy lives on such a scale, then no agreement will deter other similar regimes based on hatred from aggression and attacks. We are counting on the world’s reaction, and we hope that this reaction will be preventive rather than reactive—we must put pressure on Moscow so that they do not expand the war,” Zelenskyy noted.
In this address, he also reminded that Ukraine had granted permission for a parade in Moscow in honor of May 9, but there is no permission for madness in Russia.
“We gave permission for the parade, but there is no permission for madness in Russia. This war must end—we need peace, not some rockets to satisfy the sick ambitions of a single person. Thank you to everyone who is helping to save lives! Once again: please, take care of yourselves and use shelters today,” Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, Belarus manufactures launchers for “Oreshnik” ballistic missiles, and Lukashenko dreams of obtaining Russian missiles for them. This was stated by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
The Kremlin is stepping up its threats against Ukraine and its allies ahead of May 9, trying to hide its own inability to protect Russia’s rear regions from Ukrainian strikes.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a series of decrees implementing the National Security and Defense Council’s decisions on new restrictive measures.
