The Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing actions on new directions to force the Russians to change their plans — General Staff
The Defence Forces of Ukraine cannot limit themselves only to defence at the front, as in that case Russian troops would gradually destroy Ukrainian positions. Therefore, the Ukrainian army is preparing active operations in directions where the occupiers are currently not conducting intensive combat operations.
This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the Head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Komarenko.
According to him, the planned actions are intended to force Russian troops to act “in ways they did not plan.” At the same time, he noted that in the near future the enemy will concentrate its main efforts on the Pokrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Oleksandrivsk directions, which currently remain the most difficult sections of the front.
Komarenko emphasised that the overall situation on the front remains difficult but under control.
“The situation is difficult, of course, but controlled. We are doing everything we can, and even a little more, in order to contain and destroy the enemy,” he noted.
According to the representative of the General Staff, Ukrainian troops are gradually stabilising the situation thanks to active operations. As a result, the intensity of Russian attacks has decreased in the areas of Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk, while the enemy has begun concentrating forces in the Oleksandrivsk direction.
At the same time, the Defence Forces are holding back these offensive attempts and have managed to liberate almost the entire territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Russian troops advanced last year.
Komarenko stressed that Russia’s strategic goal remains the establishment of full control over the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as maximum advancement in southern Ukraine. According to him, Russian forces will try to implement these plans at any cost.
It is recalled that over the past day the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated another 950 Russian soldiers and two air defence systems.
The Defence Forces of Ukraine also continue clearing operations at the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
