The Ukrainian Armed Forces are scaling up the use of new anti-drone technologies on the front lines

The Ukrainian Armed Forces plan to expand the use of experimental countermeasures against Russian attack and FPV drones, which have become one of the key challenges of modern warfare. This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi, who emphasized that the technological nature of combat operations is constantly becoming more complex and requires rapid decisions. New developments are already being tested under conditions as close as possible to real combat.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Ukrainian troops are increasingly facing the widespread use of Russian drones, which are employed for both reconnaissance and strikes on positions. This is precisely what is forcing the army to adapt quickly and seek new technical solutions that will improve the survivability of units on the battlefield.

To this end, Syrskyi attended a demonstration of experimental anti-drone systems organized by the Central Directorate for Innovation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This agency brings together military personnel, engineers, and technology manufacturers working on solutions for the front lines, where speed of implementation is often critical.

Ukrainian developers presented several promising systems that are already undergoing testing and demonstrating the potential to reduce the effectiveness of enemy drones. According to the Commander-in-Chief, these technologies are being tested under conditions as close to combat as possible, which allows for an assessment of their actual effectiveness, rather than just laboratory performance metrics.

Syrskyi emphasized that details of the new systems are not being disclosed for security reasons, as their specifications and operating principles must remain unknown to the enemy. He stated explicitly: “For security reasons, I will not disclose the technical specifications, operating principles, or possible scenarios for the use of the new systems. Our goal is for the Russian occupiers to discover their capabilities directly on the battlefield.”

Once testing is complete, all results will be analyzed in detail to determine which systems can be scaled up for widespread use across units. The command will then make decisions regarding the launch of production and the integration of these systems into combat units.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasize that the development of such technologies is part of a broader strategy aimed at maintaining a technological advantage on the battlefield. As Syrskyi noted, work in this area is ongoing, as innovation increasingly determines the outcome of modern combat operations. This was reported on Facebook by General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In Taganrog, Russia, a power substation that supplied electricity to the “Atlant-Aero” defense enterprise was damaged. As a result, production lines involved in the manufacture of drones were disrupted.

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, fires broke out at a number of energy and infrastructure facilities following a nighttime attack. In particular, fires were reported at the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant and gas facilities in various regions of the peninsula.
