Ukrainian troops killed Russian occupier Vsevolod Tarasov on the front lines; he held the title of Russian champion among athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Twenty-one-year-old Vsevolod Tarasov was a native of Yakutia, held the title of Candidate Master of Sports of Russia, and was a member of the Russian national team’s reserve roster.
The Russian track and field athlete took direct part in the war of aggression against Ukraine as a rank-and-file soldier with the call sign “Hunter.”
For some time, he was officially considered missing in action, but information was later confirmed that the invader was killed on January 30, 2026, near the town of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Russian media report that Tarasov was actively involved in sports from childhood and initially dreamed of becoming a freestyle wrestler. Due to health issues, he switched to track and field, where he won over 40 different medals while still in school.
In 2024, Tarasov became the Russian champion in the triple jump among athletes with intellectual disabilities, and after retiring from competition, he worked as a CrossFit coach.
