The Ukrainian Armed Forces have received a new "Shvidun" interceptor drone capable of destroying "Shahed" drones and reconnaissance drones
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has certified and authorized the use of the new Ukrainian-made "Shvidun" unmanned aerial system within the Armed Forces.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The drone was developed specifically to intercept enemy drones, including strike drones such as the “Shahed-136,” “Geran,” and “Gerbera,” as well as reconnaissance drones such as the Zala, Supercam, and “Skat.”
The drone is made of durable composite materials. It weighs about 8 kg, and its wingspan reaches nearly 2 meters.
The “Shvidun” is capable of climbing to an altitude of up to 6 km and reaching speeds exceeding 250 km/h. Its operational range exceeds 70 km, allowing it to effectively cover the airspace over Ukrainian cities.

Thanks to modern technological solutions, the drone’s airframe does not experience flutter (vibrations) at high speeds, ensuring a clear image for the operator. At the same time, the drone has a low takeoff and landing speed, allowing it to be reused after completing a mission. In total, the aircraft can remain airborne for over two hours.
The first “Shvidun” drones are already being used to protect Ukrainian cities. According to available data, this system has one of the highest rates of destroying enemy “suicide drones” among Ukrainian interceptor drones.
With the help of the “Shvidun,” the Ukrainian military has already destroyed about a hundred enemy drones.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense also approved another Ukrainian system for operational use—the JEDI Shahed Hunter, whose high-speed interceptors effectively destroy Shahed, Geran, and Gerbera strike drones, as well as reconnaissance aircraft.
The deployment of such drones is part of Ukraine’s War Plan. Its goal is to ensure 100% detection of aerial threats in real time and the interception of at least 95% of missiles and drones.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine certified and approved the Ukrainian-made JEDI Shahed Hunter unmanned aerial system for use by the Armed Forces.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces three fiber-optic FPV systems manufactured by enterprises of JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry.”
Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense had codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine the domestically produced "Volynyaka" unmanned aerial system.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved the Shablya MK19(M) remotely controlled combat module for use by the troops. It is equipped with an MK19 40mm automatic grenade launcher.
