The Ukrainian Armed Forces have debunked a Russian disinformation claim about the "capture" of a village in the Sumy region
Russian propaganda has spread false information about the alleged capture of the village of Korchakivka in the Sumy region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have stated that these reports are untrue. According to military officials, Russia is attempting to create the illusion of success ahead of May 1.
This was reported with reference to a statement by the Communications Center of the “Kursk” military group on Facebook.
The “Kursk” military group officially stated that there has been no enemy advance in the area of the village of Korchakivka. Ukrainian defense forces are firmly holding their positions and controlling the situation on this section of the front. Reports of the “defeat” of Ukrainian units are untrue and are part of the occupiers’ information and psychological operations.
Ukrainian military officials attribute the emergence of such disinformation to the Russian “red-date syndrome.” Due to the May 1 holiday, Russian officers urgently needed “victories” to report to their superiors.
“It seems that the desire to receive another medal or bonus is forcing them to ‘capture’ settlements without even approaching them in reality,” the Communications Center stated.

As a reminder, Russian occupiers regularly spread disinformation about “successes” on the front lines, attempting to demoralize the population and conceal their own inability to achieve real results. Sumy Oblast is a border region that suffers daily from artillery shelling and drone strikes from the Russian Federation, yet Ukrainian troops continue to reliably defend the border in this sector.
