The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have liberated eight settlements and around 400 square kilometres in southern Ukraine
During an offensive operation in the south, Ukraine’s Defence Forces have freed eight settlements and approximately 400 square kilometres of territory, Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Oleksandr Syrskyi reported.
The statement was published on his official Facebook page.
“The situation in this sector (in the Southern operational zone – ed.) remains complex. The enemy continues to apply pressure, actively using small assault groups for infiltration, employing artillery, drones, and in some cases armoured vehicles,” Syrskyi said.
According to him, despite these challenges, Ukrainian troops are not only holding the line but are also successfully conducting offensive operations.
Since the end of January this year, in the Oleksandrivsk direction, Air Assault Forces units and adjacent formations have regained control of 400 square kilometres of territory and eight settlements.
“I had the honour of personally presenting awards to servicemen of the 82nd and 95th Air Assault Brigades for their courage, resilience, and professionalism in combat,” the AFU Commander-in-Chief added.

The AFU also carried out strikes on a missile unit and supply depots of the occupying forces.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) refuted high-profile claims by Russia’s General Staff regarding allegedly captured territories.
Over the past 24 hours, the AFU eliminated more than 1,000 occupying troops, according to the General Staff.
Additionally, information about the alleged “encirclement” of Ukrainian forces in Rodynske is not true, Operational Command “East” reported.
Since the beginning of the day, 51 combat engagements have already taken place along the front line.
