The Trump administration has warned of possible disruptions in arms deliveries to Ukraine

Officials from U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration have begun informing allies of a likely suspension of U.S. arms deliveries to Ukraine in the coming months.

According to Politico, citing European officials, the Pentagon is prioritizing its own needs due to the war in Iran. The U.S. State Department clarified that the disruptions may primarily affect ammunition and interceptors for Patriot air defense systems.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio planned to discuss this issue at the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting on Friday, March 27. At the same time, some European partners have received assurances from Washington that deliveries under the PURL initiative are not currently being redirected. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tykhyi noted that during a bilateral meeting with Rubio, no information regarding upcoming delays was mentioned. The Pentagon refrained from making official comments regarding changes in priorities for the distribution of military aid.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon is considering redirecting weapons intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, as the war in Iran is depleting the U.S. Army’s stockpiles of some of its most critical ammunition. According to the publication’s sources, the weapons that could be redirected include air defense interceptor missiles.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that U.S. weapons intended for Ukraine under the PURL mechanism will not be redirected to the Middle East.
