Sindh Assembly in Pakistan sends resolution against province’s division to authorities — Dawn

The Secretariat of the Sindh Assembly in Pakistan has sent the federal authorities a resolution rejecting any proposals to divide the province. Letters containing the text of the decision were sent to the principal secretaries of the president and prime minister, as well as to the country’s Senate and National Assembly.

Call to respect the will of Sindh

In the resolution, the Sindh Assembly called on the federal government, parliament, all political parties and state institutions to respect the democratic will of the people of Sindh and the Provincial Assembly elected by them.

The document also calls for not initiating, supporting or considering proposals that could alter the territorial integrity of Sindh province.

Letters to federal bodies

The Secretariat forwarded the resolution through letters to representatives of Pakistan’s president and prime minister and both chambers of the federal parliament. The Assembly’s decision concerns any proposals that would entail changing Sindh’s territorial arrangement.
