Azerbaijan has issued an international arrest warrant for three Russian citizens
In Azerbaijan, three Russian citizens have been placed on an international wanted list on suspicion of publicly calling for violent actions against the country, violating its territorial integrity, and inciting ethnic hatred. The individuals in question are journalists Ivan Knyazev, Semyon Uralov, and Alexei Chadaev.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, on July 14, in a program posted on Uralov’s YouTube channel, the suspects allegedly called for the use of violence against Azerbaijan and the overthrow of its constitutional order. In addition, investigators believe that on August 13, they publicly called for terrorist acts.
A criminal case has been opened against the three Russians under articles concerning public calls for terrorism, actions against the state, and incitement of ethnic hatred. The court ordered them to be held in pretrial detention.
Since the suspects are outside Azerbaijan, they have been placed on the wanted list. The Prosecutor General’s Office has also sent corresponding requests to the competent authorities of other countries to determine their whereabouts and apprehend them, and is taking steps to issue an international arrest warrant through Interpol.
