Azerbaijan destroyed 5 tons of chicken from Ukraine
Azerbaijan's Food Safety Agency detected dangerous bacteria in a shipment of frozen chicken imported from Ukraine.
Due to the threat to consumer health, all of the products, totaling approximately five tons, were immediately destroyed at a specialized disposal site.
According to official data from the Azerbaijani agency, laboratory tests confirmed the presence of salmonella in 4.9 tons of frozen chicken products.
The batch was labeled with production dates and expiration dates ranging from February 16, 2026, to February 16, 2028. The pathogenic bacteria found by experts can cause severe forms of intestinal infections in humans.
Immediately after receiving the test results, all measures required by law were taken. The products were removed from circulation and completely disposed of to prevent them from reaching store shelves.
Experts emphasize that quality control of meat products remains a priority for ensuring the country’s epidemiological well-being.
The detection of salmonella in Ukrainian products has prompted serious action by Azerbaijan at the international level.
The Food Safety Agency has already sent an official letter to the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The Azerbaijani side demands that export operations by the specific manufacturing company be suspended immediately.
Currently, the Ukrainian side must conduct an investigation at the production facilities to determine the source of the meat contamination.
The temporary restrictions will remain in effect until all circumstances are clarified and violations of sanitary standards are rectified. This is a standard procedure designed to prevent the further spread of substandard food products.
