The Bank of Spain fears cyberattacks from AI

The Bank of Spain has called for greater international cooperation and expanded access to secure artificial intelligence models, with the aim of mitigating cybersecurity risks arising from the potential misuse of modern vulnerability detection systems.

Reuters reports this.

In its semi-annual financial stability report, the bank warned that new artificial intelligence tools, such as the Mythos model, also from Anthropic, could facilitate the exploitation of software vulnerabilities, drastically reducing the time between detection and malicious use.

The report noted that, under adverse scenarios, the development of such models could have a negative systemic impact, enabling more coordinated cyberattacks on the global financial sector and economy.

"International coordination is fundamental to enhancing resilience at the global level and preventing attacks," the country’s central bank noted.

It also emphasized the need for closer cooperation between regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and technology providers.

As a reminder, one-third of workers in Ukraine fear being replaced by artificial intelligence.

Rosneft stated that it is impossible to create “sovereign” artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence models in a nuclear war simulation demonstrated aggression and intransigence.
