Belgium has halted the decommissioning of its nuclear power plants and plans to revive its nuclear energy sector

Belgium has abandoned plans to completely decommission its nuclear reactors and is reviewing its energy policy.

This is reported by Russian media.

Until recently, the country had planned to phase out nuclear power, but following the energy crisis caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the course was changed. The operating life of some reactors has already been extended until 2035.

In addition, the Belgian government has signed an agreement with Engie to prepare for the resumption of nuclear power plant operations.

Against this backdrop, Germany previously acknowledged that phasing out nuclear power was a mistake.

Belgium and Spain will provide Ukraine with €1 billion in defense aid.

As a reminder, Belgium and Norway have not yet transferred any aircraft due to the technical rearmament of their own forces and a critical shortage of spare parts.

Poland has not yet transferred MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. Dialogue between the parties on this issue is ongoing.
