The Pentagon has estimated the cost of a U.S. war with Iran at $25 billion — Reuters

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has released its first official estimate of the cost of a war against Iran—it amounts to approximately $25 billion.

This was reported by Reuters.

According to Acting Pentagon Comptroller Jules Hurst, the largest portion of the funds was spent on ammunition. At the same time, it remains unclear whether future costs for restoring damaged U.S. infrastructure in the Middle East are included in this amount.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hagset stated during congressional hearings that such expenditures are justified, emphasizing the need to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

At the same time, analysts point to possible discrepancies in the figures: it was previously reported that in just the first six days of the conflict, costs exceeded $11 billion.

The U.S. launched strikes against Iran on February 28, 2026. Currently, the parties are observing a fragile ceasefire.

The war has already resulted in the deaths of 13 American soldiers and hundreds of wounded, as well as causing energy fluctuations in global markets.

Against this backdrop, Donald Trump’s support among Americans is declining: according to a poll, approval of the war has dropped to 34%.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron announced active diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. During a visit to Andorra, he emphasized that he is negotiating with both Donald Trump and the Iranian side to resolve the energy crisis “at its root.”

U.S. President Donald Trump called on Iran to conclude an agreement as soon as possible amid protracted negotiations and reports of a possible extension of the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports.
