Plane carrying four Florida family members disappears near the Bahamas
A small plane carrying four members of a Florida family returning home has disappeared near the Bahamas. According to CBS News, Bahamas police and the U.S. Coast Guard have joined the search.
Contact lost near Andros
The five-seat Piper PA-34 aircraft, registration number N212ML, departed from Great Harbour Cay in the Bahamas and was headed to Miami Executive Airport in Miami-Dade County. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft about 13 miles west of Andros Island.
Bahamas police said that a search for the plane is being coordinated on Andros Island. According to preliminary information, it may have crashed near the coast of Red Bays in northern Andros.

Search suspended due to bad weather
As CBS News reports, citing the Miami Herald, those on board were 80-year-old pilot Mario Lamar, his 79-year-old wife Lili Lamar, and their two grandchildren — 28-year-old Sofia Sosa and 22-year-old Christian Sosa.
Bahamas officials requested assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard at around 2 p.m. The U.S. service dispatched an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft to assist in the search. Later, Bahamas police announced that the search operation had been suspended due to adverse weather conditions; it was not specified when it would resume.
