Searches are ongoing off the coast of Mexico for a 56-year-old passenger of the Carnival Panorama cruise ship, which was traveling from Puerto Vallarta to Long Beach, California. According to Global News Canada, Carnival Cruise Line said the man jumped overboard.
Crew actions
The company said that after being notified of the passenger's disappearance, the ship's team began search and verification procedures. In particular, the crew reviewed surveillance camera footage and notified the U.S. and Mexican coast guards.
The company also said it is providing support to the passenger's family, who were traveling with him. The man was taking part in a seven-day cruise with stops in several coastal communities in Mexico before returning to Southern California.

Search operation
The U.S. Coast Guard said it received information about a man who went overboard from the liner late Friday evening. The coordination center in Alameda learned of the incident on Saturday afternoon and is coordinating the search-and-rescue operation.
U.S. Coast Guard aircraft were deployed for the search. The Mexican Navy and commercial vessels in the search area are also participating in the operation. As of the time of publication, the search was ongoing, and the reasons why the passenger ended up overboard are being investigated.
