A drone containing explosives was found near a Ukrainian plane at Leipzig Airport
At Leipzig/Halle International Airport, a drone carrying an explosive device was discovered near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane. Due to the incident, airport operations were temporarily suspended for several hours.
The drone was found late in the evening on August 4. A package containing an explosive substance and a detonator was attached to it, but an explosion was averted due to a malfunction in the mechanism. The Dresden General Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case.
According to BILD, an airport employee was the first to spot the drone flying at a low altitude. He brought the drone down to the ground and immediately notified security, after which law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and classified the find as an unknown explosive and incendiary device.
