A tanker exploded off the coast of Oman, causing a fuel leak
A tanker exploded off the coast of Oman, approximately 60 nautical miles east of the country’s capital, Muscat. This was reported by United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations.
According to UKMTO, the explosion occurred on the port side of the ship’s stern near the waterline, causing some of the bunker fuel to spill into the sea.
According to preliminary information, neither the crew nor the vessel itself was harmed.

The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation, and vessels have been advised to navigate the area with extreme caution and report any suspicious activity.
The ceasefire has not unblocked shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz has once again come to a near standstill.
