A Boeing cargo plane has gone missing off the coast of Pakistan

A search-and-rescue operation has been launched off the coast of Pakistan following the disappearance of a Boeing 737 cargo plane operated by K2 Airways. There were five crew members on board. Preliminary reports indicate that the plane may have crashed into the Arabian Sea near Karachi.

According to Pakistan’s aviation authorities, the plane, which was flying from Sharjah (UAE) to Karachi, reported a navigation system malfunction to air traffic controllers at 9:18 p.m. Pakistan time on the evening of July 7.

After that, air traffic controllers attempted to assist the crew, but contact with the plane was lost within a few minutes. At that moment, it was approximately 287 kilometers west of Karachi.

According to Flightradar24, before disappearing, the Boeing made a sharp change in altitude and then went into a steep dive. The last signal was recorded at an altitude of about 335 meters above sea level.

Several government agencies have been involved in the search. K2 Airways stated that it is cooperating with aviation authorities and other government agencies, and expressed hope for the safe return of the crew members.

It should be noted that the missing aircraft is a cargo version of the Boeing 737 and is the only aircraft in the K2 Airways fleet; the airline began operating it in 2024.

This was reported by The Guardian.

As a reminder, Denmark will purchase two patrol aircraft from Boeing for missions in the Arctic and the North Atlantic.

The Czech Republic has received its first C-390 Millennium military aircraft.
