Turkey aims to establish and have a Center for Unmanned Systems and Counter-Drone Measures accredited by NATO

During a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan proposed the creation of a specialized Center for Unmanned Systems and Counter-UAV Capabilities under the auspices of the Alliance.

Ankara hopes to obtain official NATO accreditation for the new center, drawing on its own extensive experience in deploying strike and reconnaissance unmanned systems in real combat conditions.

According to Erdogan, the center’s activities will significantly enhance the allies’ operational capabilities in intercepting and neutralizing aerial and unmanned threats. At the same time, the Turkish leader highlighted the development of the national “Iron Dome” layered air defense and missile defense system, to which the country has allocated an additional $24 billion.
