White House defends TV ads supporting Trump ahead of midterm elections — The Hill

The White House defended a television campaign supporting President Donald Trump that aired ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The administration said that “patriotism is not partisan” and that the ads are intended to remind Americans why they should love and defend their country — at home, at the border, and abroad.

Content and labeling of the ad

As The Hill reports, the 30-second ad features Trump’s voice. It includes his words: “Together, we will defeat communism, socialism and Marxism in America” and “America will never be a communist country.”

The video also used a clip from UFC President Dana White’s speech in 2024. He called Trump the toughest and most resilient person he had ever met. The musical accompaniment was “Love Me” by JMSN, whose real name is Christian Berishaj. The ad states: “Paid for by the U.S. Government.”

White House position and spending

The White House stressed that the ads are public service announcements that are “clearly labeled” and aimed at the country rather than the ballot. The administration also noted that presidents had previously used similar advertising campaigns to explain policy and justify the country’s course. As an example, it cited President Joe Biden’s 2021 “We can do this” campaign, which encouraged Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The White House added that Trump is not running in the midterm elections and that the ads contain no call to action. At the same time, the president endorsed a number of candidates in the upcoming elections and in August urged voters to “pretend like I’m on the ballot.”

According to an estimate by political advertising monitoring company AdImpact, the Trump administration spent more than $400,000 to air the ads. Associated Press reported that the advertisements are being shown during prime time and morning programs on CBS, as well as across various Fox News broadcasts. According to AdImpact, an ad dedicated to July 4 also began airing on Friday: Trump narrates footage featuring his speech near Mount Rushmore.
