Britain will strengthen its allies' air defense capabilities in the Middle East

During a visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, UK Defense Secretary John Healey announced a large-scale deployment of military personnel and equipment to the region.

This was reported by Reuters.

London will send approximately 1,000 troops to assist partners in the Persian Gulf in installing new air defense systems, training personnel, and ensuring their operation. The main goal of the mission is to protect the skies and strengthen regional security amid threats from Iran.

As part of its military support, Britain will deploy Sky Sabre ground-based air defense systems in Saudi Arabia, which are currently in service with the British Army. In Qatar, Typhoon fighter jets will continue to be operated by a joint squadron, and in Bahrain, the local defense system will be supplemented by a British light multi-role launcher. Special attention was paid during the talks to the situation surrounding the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

John Giley emphasized that the United Kingdom remains committed to a long-term partnership with countries in the region and seeks a swift resolution to the conflict. The Ministry of Defense stressed that British forces will work alongside local units to create an integrated defense shield. Currently, all preparatory processes for the deployment of additional forces are in the final stages.
