Ferries on Lake Constance Have Been Suspended Due to Low Water Levels — DW
Ferry service has been suspended on the German side of Lake Constance in the Unterzee area. The reason is critically low water levels, which have increased the danger to vessels.
The operator, Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe (BSB), has suspended service until further notice. The company noted that the ferries continued to operate as long as it remained safe, but there is now a risk of getting stuck at the harbor entrance.
Currently, the water level in the lake is 251 cm—108 cm below the average for this date, which is 359 cm.
Lake Constance is located on the border of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The prolonged drought has also affected shipping on other waterways in Germany.
In particular, transport services on the Rhine have had to be reduced or suspended, which has already affected businesses that depend on the delivery of raw materials by river transport.

In Germany, record-breaking heat and drought in August caused water levels in the Rhine to drop sharply, leading to the temporary closure of the southern section of the river to shipping. Thousands of metric tons of cargo were stranded in ports, and carriers were forced to reduce their shipping volumes.
In Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, water supply restrictions were imposed due to low water levels in the Chechva River.
