Romanian President Nicușor Dan stated that the drone that entered Romanian airspace and struck a residential building in Galați was shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces.

Nicușor Dan made this statement while commenting on the incident.

According to the Romanian president, after being hit by Ukrainian air defense, the drone changed its flight path and crashed on Romanian territory. A residential building was damaged as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, Kremlin leader Putin commented on the incident for the first time more than 15 hours after the drone crashed. He stated that it is premature to draw conclusions about the drone’s origin without conducting a proper investigation.

According to Putin, similar incidents have allegedly occurred previously in Finland, Poland, and the Baltic states, where, following investigations, the drones were not linked to Russia.

“No one can say what the origin of a particular aircraft is until an examination of that aircraft has been conducted,” the Kremlin leader stated.

The Romanian side is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and determine the origin of the drone.
