MP Hina Parvez Butt calls for action on non-consensual AI videos — Dawn
Hina Parvez Butt, a member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly in Pakistan, spoke out against the creation of artificial intelligence-generated videos featuring public figures without their consent. The head of the Punjab Women Protection Authority said such technologies must not be used to harm people's dignity, respect or privacy.
As Dawn reports, Butt supported TikTok creator Jannat Mirza, who publicly responded to an AI-generated video using her image. The lawmaker called the use of women's photographs and faces to create content without their consent particularly alarming.

In her video address, Butt also showed screenshots of Mirza's response. The creator warned that her face may be used today, while tomorrow the dignity of any other girl could be under threat. According to her, the video caused her severe discomfort, although she has an active public presence online.

Mirza noted that photographs of girls who do not use social media at all can also be used without their knowledge. She called artificial intelligence a powerful tool, but stressed that creating unacceptable or misleading videos featuring people should not be taken lightly.
Call for action
Hina Parvez Butt said that the Punjab Women Protection Authority is ready to help women whose photos or videos have been used for AI content, and called on the authorities to respond to such cases. She stressed that there can be no compromises when it comes to women's dignity, respect and protection.
The publication also notes that deepfakes featuring Pakistani and foreign actors have recently appeared on Instagram. One such video, in which the account owner's image allegedly beats actress Hania Aamir, prompted calls for action.
