Dozens of countries have condemned the executions of protesters in Iran
The High Representative of the European Union and 32 countries issued a joint statement strongly condemning the use of the death penalty against protesters in Iran. The document, published on the Swedish government’s website, emphasizes that the use of the death penalty as a tool to suppress dissent, intimidate citizens, and punish individuals for exercising their fundamental rights is unacceptable.
The international community has called on the Iranian authorities to immediately halt executions, release all those detained without cause, and heed the demands of its own people regarding the protection of human rights. Signatories to the statement include Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Iceland, and EU member states.

Fifty-six people have been executed in Iran, and more than 100 others may face execution.
