Diesel prices in Germany reach 2.7 euros per litre, threatening increased costs across sectors
Diesel fuel prices in Germany have risen to 2.7 euros per litre. Since 90% of freight transport into the country relies on diesel vehicles, this price hike significantly impacts logistics. Russia, previously the largest diesel supplier to Europe, has contributed to a 70% increase in prices.
The U.S. Department of Energy warns that gasoline and diesel prices are unlikely to return to pre-war levels before mid-2027. This will lead to rising costs in various industries – including freight transportation, agriculture, aviation, and retail.
Further fuel price increases may raise the cost of goods and services, highlighting the importance of seeking alternative energy sources and optimising transport processes.
