Donald Trump jokingly suggested running in the Venezuelan election
U.S. President Donald Trump made an unexpected statement, jokingly suggesting he might run for president of Venezuela after his term in the United States ends.
This was reported by Fox News.
Trump claimed that he allegedly enjoys high levels of support in Venezuela.
“I have higher approval ratings than anyone has ever had in Venezuela,” he said.
The American leader added that after his presidential term in the U.S. ends, he will be able to quickly learn Spanish and run for office in this Latin American country. “It won’t take long… I’ll run for president,” Trump joked.
Earlier, during a speech at an investment forum in Miami on March 27, U.S. President Donald Trump praised the success of U.S. military operations in Venezuela and Iran and hinted that Cuba could be the next target.
The Donald Trump administration plans to ease sanctions against Venezuela’s oil sector to boost production amid high oil prices caused by the war in Iran. This includes issuing more licenses to foreign companies and creating a mechanism to facilitate entry into the Venezuelan market. However, experts doubt that this will quickly affect production volumes.
