A drone found in Lithuania was equipped with explosives - LRT
In Lithuania, a drone that crashed in the north of the country the previous evening was equipped with an explosive device. LRT reported this on May 18, citing local security services. Experts plan to defuse the explosive directly at the crash site; the area around the incident has been temporarily cordoned off.
Mindaugas Puskunigis, deputy chief of the Utena County Police Headquarters, reported that the drone was discovered by a local resident who was mowing the grass. Judging by the debris, the device does not resemble a “Shahed”-type drone. There are also no signs of an explosion at the site.
The crash site is cordoned off, with law enforcement officers and bomb disposal experts on the scene.
Puskunigis noted that some of the drone’s debris is on the surface, while other fragments have embedded themselves in the ground. “There is a lot of small debris; the drone is completely destroyed,” he said.
The Utena County Police reported that the drone was equipped with explosives, which will be neutralized on site, “as transportation poses a threat to the public.”
