The Iranian president urged citizens to accept the economic hardships
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country's citizens will have to come to terms with inflation, shortages, and a deteriorating economic situation due to martial law.
He made this statement during an address to the public.
According to Pezeshkian, Iran’s economy and infrastructure have suffered serious losses, particularly in the oil and gas sector, the energy sector, and industrial enterprises, including the country’s largest steel mill.
He also noted that oil exports have been blocked, significantly reducing revenue to the state budget.
The president reported that gasoline production in the country has fallen to 100 million liters per day, while daily consumption stands at about 150 million liters.
Against this backdrop, he urged the public to reduce their consumption of water, electricity, and fuel, warning that without this, the economic crisis, unemployment, and inflation would only worsen.
