The court has definitively upheld the sentence against fugitive former lawmaker Kryuchkov

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the sentence against former lawmaker Dmytro Kryuchkov—10 years in prison for embezzlement. The court only clarified certain procedural details but did not revise the main sentence. The decision has taken effect, although it may be appealed to the Supreme Court. This was reported by the court’s press service on Telegram.

Former MP Dmytro Kryuchkov has been definitively sentenced to 10 years in prison, after the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the key provisions of the first-instance verdict.

On May 18, 2026, the appellate court concluded its review of the parties’ appeals against the HACC’s decision of June 11, 2025, issued as part of special judicial proceedings concerning the MP of the 5th convocation.

The court of first instance found Kryuchkov not guilty on some of the charges related to abuse of power, but found him guilty of embezzlement on a particularly large scale, which served as the basis for the actual prison sentence. The Appeals Chamber partially upheld the parties’ appeals but amended the sentence only on a technical point—specifically regarding the crediting of time served in pretrial detention, which was calculated using the “one day for two” formula.

The court also remanded Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo’s civil claim for damages to the court of first instance for a new hearing under civil procedure.

The remainder of the decision remained unchanged, and the court definitively sentenced Kryuchkov to 10 years and 6 months of imprisonment, with an additional ban on holding certain positions for three years and the confiscation of all property.

The sentence will begin from the moment of actual detention, as Kryuchkov is currently outside Ukraine. The decision took legal effect immediately upon being announced but may be appealed to the Supreme Court.

In Ukraine, a court handed down a verdict in absentia against Oleg Kryuchkov, who in 2014 began working for the Russian occupiers. He was found guilty of war propaganda, justifying the temporary occupation of part of Ukraine’s territory, and collaboration.

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) partially granted the motion of the SAPO prosecutor and placed former MP Dmytro Kryuchkov on the international wanted list.

Earlier, we reported that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau had exposed a deputy from the “Servant of the People” faction for bribing Mustafa Nayem, the head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development.

However, it later emerged that Odarchenko, the MP suspected of bribery, had fled abroad.
