In Nigeria, the wife of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, Olori Atuwatse III, said that her husband will not change his stance on polygamy. As Premium Times Nigeria reports, she said this in an interview with BBC News Pidgin published on September 23.
Talking about marriage
Olori Atuwatse was asked whether she would agree if the monarch changed his mind about polygamy and decided to take another wife. She replied that she does not expect him to change his stance and joked that she herself is “like three women.”
The monarch’s wife also acknowledged that, because of the Olu of Warri’s many duties, it is sometimes difficult for her to share time with him. According to her, the couple are learning to cope with the demands of his role, although she would like to have her husband all to herself.
