The wife of Spain's prime minister is asking the court for permission to attend the NATO summit with her husband — EFE
The wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Begonia Gómez, has filed an official petition with Judge Juan Carlos Peinado requesting a temporary lifting of the ban on leaving the country.
She is seeking permission to travel to Ankara, where she is to accompany her husband to the NATO summit.
In addition to the official visit, Gómez is requesting permission to travel to London, where her daughter’s graduation celebration is scheduled to take place.
Attorney Antonio Camacho, who represents the prime minister’s wife, filed the request after the judge confiscated his client’s passport.
Begonia Gomez is currently subject to a court-imposed travel ban preventing her from leaving Spain as part of the investigation led by Juan Carlos Peinado.
The lawyer hopes that arguments regarding diplomatic representation and important family events will convince the judge to reconsider the restrictions imposed.
