Ukraine Receives Over 90% of Its Patriot Missiles Through PURL — Hetmanchuk

Alona Getmanchuk, Ukraine’s Ambassador to NATO, noted that Ukraine currently receives most of the interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems through the PURL mechanism.

According to her, approximately 90–92% of the interceptors are currently being supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces under this scheme. The program involves European partners purchasing U.S. weapons and subsequently transferring them to Ukraine to strengthen its air defense.

According to Hetmanchuk, NATO understands the importance of this program for Ukraine.

“Today, this is a higher priority than it was at the end of last year. Because while at the end of last year we were receiving about 75% of the interceptors for the Patriot systems through PURL, now that figure is 90–92%,” she said.

However, according to the diplomat, this is not enough.

“We need additional anti-ballistic capabilities, and we’re working on that. And one of our key practical expectations from the NATO summit in Ankara is that there will be new contributions,” Hetmanchuk stated.

At the same time, she noted that it will be very difficult to achieve a better outcome in Ankara than the decisions on new contributions already announced in June.

“And we are, of course, working with countries to ensure that the processing of these contributions happens more quickly, so that they reach NATO’s account sooner and, accordingly, the weapons we need are delivered,” the ambassador said.

She made these remarks in an interview with “European Truth.”

The U.S. acknowledges a shortage of Patriot systems due to high demand.
