The Russian elite will have to deal with the Putin issue — CPD

The Center for Countering Disinformation commented on statements regarding possible scenarios for how events might unfold in Russia and among its leadership.

According to representatives of the Center, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin finds himself at a crossroads between several options: ending the war, announcing a new mobilization, or attempting to escalate the conflict and draw NATO into direct confrontation through airstrikes.

He noted that within Russia itself, some members of the elite are advocating for a ceasefire and the start of a negotiation process. However, they currently have significantly less influence than those who support continuing hostilities and stalling for time.

“It is possible that the Russian elite will have to deal with Putin in order to end this military madness, which the Russian leader has so far refused to stop,” Kovalenko believes.

Forcing Peace Through Force

The head of the Center for Political Analysis emphasized that there is no other way forward except to force Russia to make peace through the use of force

“Diplomacy without force—relying on logical arguments and references to international law—has been employed since 2014. And no party that engaged in dialogue with Putin from a position of logic has been successful, since such diplomacy pitted two parallel realities against each other,” he emphasized.

Kovalenko stated that only diplomacy backed by force “brings Russian reality closer to the real one.”

This was stated by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

The Kremlin has stepped up its rhetoric about war with Europe – the Center for Countering Disinformation.

As a reminder, drones struck 193 Russian trucks near occupied Crimea over the course of five days.

Earlier, on June 16, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don handed down sentences to two Ukrainian prisoners of war from the “Azov” battalion, sentencing them to 17 and 20 years of imprisonment in a penal colony.

Russia has handed down yet another round of sentences to Ukrainian prisoners of war. The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced six defenders of Ukraine to terms ranging from 12 to 19 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
