A heavy downpour flooded Istanbul and brought traffic to a standstill

In Istanbul, Turkey, a heavy downpour caused widespread flooding in various parts of the city. The inclement weather significantly disrupted traffic, leading to major traffic jams on the roads.

“The districts of Beşiktaş, Şişli, Fatih, Bakırköy, Sultangazi, and Kağıthane were hardest hit by the storm. Due to the heavy rainfall, streets and avenues were submerged, and some underpasses were flooded,” the report states.

In particular, several cars were stranded in one of the districts, as their drivers were unable to leave the flooded area on their own. Local residents opened storm drain covers themselves to speed up the drainage of water. Traffic was significantly disrupted.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties.

Heavy rain in the Rivne region led to flooding on a section of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop international highway near the village of Varkovychi. This caused a traffic jam stretching for several kilometers, and police were forced to implement alternating traffic.
