Jibrin dismisses aide over posts about Kano governor — Premium Times Nigeria

In Nigeria, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin terminated the appointment of his senior legislative aide, Umar Alhassan, following his social media posts about Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf. The decision took effect on 18 September 2026.

Reasons for the dismissal

According to Premium Times Nigeria, Jibrin’s media aide, Shitu Madaki, announced the termination of Alhassan’s appointment. He said the decision was made after a series of online posts and comments by Alhassan, known as King Indara. These included posts claiming that Governor Yusuf should leave office.

The Deputy Senate President’s office described the publications as disrespectful and inconsistent with proper standards of conduct toward the governor. It also said that Alhassan’s actions ran counter to the interests of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party and Jibrin’s directive on party unity.
