Trump's former adviser Bolton pleaded guilty in the case involving classified documents

John Bolton, former National Security Advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, pleaded guilty to unlawfully retaining classified information and entered into a plea agreement that could allow him to avoid prison.

Bolton pleaded guilty to one count. Under the agreement, the recommended maximum sentence is up to five years, but the final decision will be made by the court. The sentence is scheduled to be announced on October 28.

Last year, Bolton faced 18 charges, including the possession and dissemination of classified materials, which, according to prosecutors, were used while he was working on his memoirs.

Former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton sharply criticized the actions of U.S. administrations regarding Ukraine since 2014. According to him, Washington’s policy was inadequate, and this led to Russia continuing its aggression. Bolton published his thoughts on social media platform X ahead of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. 

Former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton stated that the U.S. administration’s remarks on Greenland are harmful to American security. He called the White House deputy chief’s statement “naive” and warned of risks to NATO.
