A new all-time temperature record has been tentatively recorded in Germany. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the air temperature reached 41.3°C.

The highest reading was recorded at 5:00 p.m. in the Burbach district of Saarbrücken. If the data is confirmed after verification, this will become the country’s new all-time temperature record. The previous record was 41.2°C.

Germany is currently experiencing one of the most intense heat waves in recent years. Warnings about dangerous temperatures have been issued in many regions, a number of public events have been canceled, and the risk of forest fires has increased significantly.

In Brussels, due to the record-breaking heat, the European Commission was forced to partially shut down the air conditioning system at its headquarters. The decision affected several floors of the Berlaymont building and has already impacted working conditions for staff. The institution notes that these measures are temporary and related to extreme weather conditions.

Paris has imposed a temporary ban on alcohol consumption in public places due to the record-breaking heatwave that has swept across France and much of Europe. The decision was made amid an overburdened healthcare system and a sharp rise in hospitalizations. The temperature in the city reached +40.9 °C, setting a new record high for June.
