Rosselkhoznadzor has completely blocked fish imports from Armenia to Russia

Rosselkhoznadzor has completely blocked fish imports from Armenia to Russia

The Russian federal agency “Rosselkhoznadzor” has completely halted the supply of fish and fish products from Armenia to Russia

The restrictions were imposed after certification was suspended for the last two Armenian companies that still had export rights.

Previously, following inspections in May, the Russian agency had authorized the import of live fish and fish products from only two companies in Armenia.

The inspections took place from May 21 to 27, during which specialists visited enterprises and trout farms.

However, half of the Armenian producers refused to undergo the inspection altogether, and the overall audit results were unsatisfactory.

Due to the problems identified, the Russian side requested that its Armenian counterparts restrict the issuance of certificates.

“Based on the findings of systematic violations, Rosselkhoznadzor asked the Armenian side to temporarily suspend the certification of all fish products, with the exception of enterprises that directly participated in the inspection — MF Export LLC and Invest Plus LLC,” the agency’s press service stated.

Subsequently, the restrictions also affected those companies that had initially passed the inspection. Russian inspectors placed them under strict monitoring, but ultimately closed the market to them as well.
