More than 600 drones were intercepted near the 2026 World Cup venues in the U.S.

U.S. security agencies have intercepted more than 600 drones near stadiums hosting World Cup matches.

This was reported by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration. According to the agency, the drones were seized to ensure security during the international tournament.

Drones have been detected and seized since the tournament began on June 11. According to the FBI, violations were recorded in restricted airspace in all 11 U.S. cities hosting FIFA World Cup matches.

Special flight restrictions are in effect around stadiums on match days. Within a three-nautical-mile radius of the stadiums and at altitudes up to 3,000 feet, all flights—including drone flights—are prohibited unless specifically authorized by air traffic controllers.

These rules were implemented to ensure the safety of fans, teams, and staff during matches. The seizure of hundreds of drones indicates that some drone operators ignored or violated the restrictions near sports venues.

U.S. agencies continue to monitor the airspace around stadiums in the tournament’s host cities. Authorities emphasize that unauthorized flights in these zones are considered violations of safety regulations.
