A Polish citizen was detained in Latvia for transporting illegal migrants

Near Daugavpils, Latvian border guards detained a Polish citizen who was transporting ten people without valid travel documents in a minibus with Polish license plates. According to law enforcement officials, the vehicle was traveling from the direction of the Belarusian border, and the passengers had entered the country illegally, without visas or permits to stay in the EU.

All the migrants were returned to the border post, and the driver was detained. During an inspection of the vehicle, border guards also discovered counterfeit Latvian license plates, which could have been used for further illegal transportation of people. In total, since the beginning of the year, Latvian authorities have recorded more than 7,500 attempts to illegally cross the state border.

RMF24 reports this.

In Poland, two Ukrainians were detained for transporting illegal migrants.
