US destroyer USS Jason Dunham arrives in Limassol, Cyprus — Cyprus Mail
US destroyer USS Jason Dunham arrived at the port of Limassol in Cyprus on Monday for crew rest and replenishment of supplies. This was reported by Cyprus Mail, citing the US Embassy in Nicosia.
First visit to Cyprus
The US Embassy said this was USS Jason Dunham’s first visit to Cyprus. It also thanked the country for its hospitality and partnership.
The ship is named after Jason L. Dunham, a recipient of the US Medal of Honor, which was awarded to him posthumously. In 2004, while on patrol in the Iraqi city of Husaybah near the Syrian border, Dunham covered a grenade with his body and helmet when his unit came under attack. He died eight days later.

Flight from Cairo to Larnaca
Two days before the destroyer’s arrival, a US Air Force Boeing C-40 Clipper aircraft with the callsign Spar19 flew from Cairo to Larnaca Airport. Such aircraft and callsigns are usually used to transport high-ranking US officials, including members of Congress or the government.
Cypriot and US authorities did not announce who was on board. The publication notes that the aircraft has likely already left Cyprus.
On Sunday evening, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reported a meeting in Cairo with US Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe. According to Egyptian presidential spokesperson Mohamed el-Shenawy, the sides discussed strengthening strategic relations between Egypt and the United States, as well as regional security and freedom of international navigation.
