The European Commission proposes to allocate €2.8 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility
Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, announced that the European Commission has proposed that the Council of the European Union provide Ukraine with nearly 2.8 billion euros under the Ukraine Facility program. The decision was made after Ukraine implemented the necessary reforms.
The Commissioner announced this on X.
Kos noted that Ukraine has met a number of requirements to receive a new tranche under the Ukraine Facility.
“When Ukraine fulfills its commitments, Europe must honor its part of the agreement. That is exactly what we are doing now, by formally proposing that the Council allocate nearly €2.8 billion under the Ukraine Facility,” the Commissioner wrote.
She noted that she will continue to work with the Ukrainian government and the Verkhovna Rada to support reforms that bring Ukraine closer to EU membership.
The European Commission is discussing new models for Ukraine’s gradual integration into the EU.
Ukraine hopes that the European Union will open all six negotiation clusters regarding the country’s accession this year and also anticipates the possibility of closing at least one of them by the end of the year.
Ukraine may temporarily forgo some of the benefits of EU membership to accelerate the accession process. Taras Kachka noted that such a step would help Ukraine integrate into the EU more quickly.
