The European Commission will regard an attack by Russia on a single EU country as an attack on the entire Union

The European Commission has stated that any potential attack by Russia on a European Union member state would be considered an attack on the entire EU.

This was announced by European Commission spokesperson Thomas Rignée during a briefing in Brussels on April 7.

“An attack on one of our member states is an attack on the EU as a whole,” he emphasized, responding to a question about Russia’s threats against the Baltic states due to their support for Ukraine.

According to Renier, the European Commission has also taken note of relevant media reports regarding potential threats from the Russian Federation.

Separately, the spokesperson emphasized that the European Union is already implementing a number of key initiatives to strengthen the security of member states. These include projects aimed at protection against drones, as well as the “Air Shield” initiative, which are currently priority areas of EU defense policy.

The European Commission stresses that coordinating actions and strengthening common security remain critically important amid growing external threats.

Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked Russia and called its actions “inspiring,” continuing the rhetoric of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
