FAA suspends flights to Newark and Philadelphia over equipment malfunction — CNBC
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily suspended the acceptance of flights at Newark Liberty and Philadelphia airports in the United States, as well as at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. The reason was problems with certain frequencies at the Philadelphia TRACON air traffic control center. This was reported by CNBC.
Problems at the air traffic control center
The Philadelphia TRACON center coordinates aircraft traffic during arrivals and departures from Newark and Philadelphia airports. Due to the equipment malfunction, hundreds of flights bound for Newark and Philadelphia were delayed.
Flights diverted to other airports
According to FlightAware, about 250 flights to and from Newark were delayed. This represents more than one-fifth of the airport's daily schedule.

As of around 1:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, 67 flights bound for Newark had been diverted to other airports, according to Flightradar24 data. They included international flights from Iceland, Greece, Spain, and France.
United Airlines, for which Newark Liberty is the largest international hub, said it would not charge flight-change fees to passengers affected by the disruptions.
